Boulder, CO – GeoVisual Analytics begins participation in the THRIVE Accelerator this week through March, 2015 as a result of winning the THRIVE competition in San Jose, CA in December. The THRIVE Accelerator is focused on helping high tech startups bring the latest innovations to agricultural.
Ten of the most innovative emerging leaders in AgTech have been selected to participate in the Thrive Accelerator Program, slated to take place in Salinas, California this January. More than 40 AgTech companies from Peru, Israel, Switzerland, Panama, France, UK, Ireland and from across the USA pitched their teams, technology and visions for growth at the THRIVE Accelerator’s Seed Camp in December. The THRIVE initiative is driven by SVG Partners and Forbes.
GeoVisual’s NASA-funded satellite imagery research offers to give growers an up to date picture of the current season’s crops to help manage resources related to crop production and distribution. Unpredictable and extreme weather are making this a more and more relevant issue for producers across the globe. According to GeoVisual CEO Jeff Orrey, “The explosion in cloud computing resources plus the current micro satellite boom are paving the way for continuous, global, precision ag monitoring in the next few years. These monitoring capabilities will help manage not only agriculture but other natural resources as well, raising awareness about what is changing on our planet – from polar ice to rain forests.” A recent forestry-related example in Colorado and the West is the rapid deforestation from the pine beetle in just a few years.
GeoVisual and the nine other top finalists will wrap up their THRIVE experience with a final Demo Day March 4th. Winners from the Demo Day will be prominently highlighted during the SVG/Forbes Reinventing America AgTech Summit on July 8 and 9, 2015, and will compete for funding and the chance to deploy their technology at one of the industry’s top companies.
